This week so many out of body experiences I felt, sometimes all at once with pure blissful happiness – it deserves to be documented. Hell, even memorialized. This week was just one for the books. It went down in HERstory.
My most exciting happy news – Big Announcement
I am Helene’s Virtual Assistant! Did you read what I said? I am Helene’s Virtual Assistant!! What’s more is that I found out on International Women’s Day. Holy cannoli. But let’s rewind shall we?
I’ve known Helene for about 3 years now. We met through our blogger events we got invited to and by the time I met her, I was a big fan of her blog, Helene in Between.
That’s Sarah from Venus Trapped in Mars, yours truly and Helene.
Helene is just one of those bloggers who is passionate like I am. She is the bee’s knees, grabs life by the earlobes and runs with it. (I didn’t want to say grabs life by the horns because that sounds weird to me). Needless to say, I was just drawn to her and her blog. A year ago, I casually joked with her that she should hire me to be her assistant and we laughed about it. All the while I was still working sales job after sales job and blogging on the side. Realistically, I wasn’t ready to take on anything else.
As some of you are aware, I quit my job right after Christmas last year. I wasn’t sure what I was going to do, but something kept telling me to try blogging full time. After all, that’s what my heart has been set on the past 5 years since I started my dating blog, Dateless in Dallas.
So when Helene shared the month before I quit my job, that she was looking for a virtual assistant, this was my chance. In some ways, I had an idea of starting a virtual assistant business for bloggers. Helene could very well be my first client to show me if I’m on the right path. I was thinking this could be a part time job for me while I stay in that terrible job I despised.
Once I quit my job, I knew I had to take myself more seriously. Starting with my blog. I wanted to finally monetize it. After years of blogging, it was time to shift in that direction. I deserve to earn money for doing something that I love. An extension of that would be to provide a service. One day I may make a product, but baby steps.
Being how I was fully funemployed, I knew I had to be aggressive. Nothing ever comes about by just waiting for it. You just have to go out there and get it. So I made it my mission to
stalk alert Helene that I need to be on her radar.
It was a long shot, but what did I have to lose? No longer wanting to go back to the corporate world, this was a no brainer.
I’m just so thankful that this opportunity came knocking at my door. I feel like everything I’ve been through and learned throughout the years has led me here. Where I know I am confident in myself and more than capable to use my skills to help others. To be able to work with Helene is seriously a dream come true. I almost cried when she told me she chose me. But I was just so damn happy that no happy tears came… yet. I’m sure it will hit me in the next few days, but for now, I’m on cloud 9.
So whatever your dreams are, whatever inspires you, take action. Put yourself in the mindset that you are more than capable, deserving and take those steps. Even if they’re small steps, to get you where you want to be. We’re not promised tomorrow, so what are you waiting for? Dream. Be Inspired. Take Action.
PS. Of course finding my dog Monroe after him running away was another highlight of my week. Adopting him and taking him home yesterday gives me all the feels.
