Confessions of a Blogaholic – Life Lately

Well, hello August! Seems like this summer flew by and I’m doing everything I can to soak it all in. It’s been awhile since I’ve done my “humpday confessions”, so I thought what a better way to kick off the new month. It doesn’t seem like I’ve been gone that long from blogland, but when I think of how much my life has changed, it’s time to do a list so here I go.

Doing The Keto Life

Some people start the keto diet for different reasons like losing weight, staying healthy or just jumping on the bandwagon like everyone else. For me, it’s more of a lifestyle than a fad. I’ve been wanting to get serious about what I put into my body because I was overeating, eating lots of carbs and just didn’t feel good about myself. Also, I was starting to get some serious heartburn that started happening every day. Pretty sure my blood pressure was not normal because even though it wasn’t alarmingly high, it was still higher than normal, which is not okay.

Benefits I’ve noticed since I started keto 2 weeks ago: One of the first things I noticed was that my heartburn was absolutely gone. Over with. The first week, I lost 4 lbs. The following week, I lost 1 more pound, so 5 pounds lost so far and I feel amazing! My skin has cleared up a lot lately and that makes me happy. I don’t get as hungry as I used to and if I feel the urge to snack, I pack almonds and/or eat strawberries/veggies. I cook a lot more than I used to, which is therapeutic and the food comes out so delicious and healthy. Also, I completely cut off alcohol, which wasn’t hard to do because I was already doing that.

Diving Into Books

As I mentioned in my last post, I joined the local Austin library. I was a little overzealous and checked out 5 books. I still have 4 to read and if I don’t finish them, I may have to check them in and check them back out. Or buy them or listen to them on Audible. Finally did my first book review in a long time yesterday so if you missed it, check it out HERE. Over the weekend, I went into Amazon Books and I got “Girl, Wash Your Face” by Rachel Hollis. I’ve been wanting to get this book for awhile and I finally got around to it. I can’t wait to dig into it, but first I gotta finish my library books before I end up paying more fines, haha.

Amazon has all my money

Blame it on PrimeDay, but not only did I order groceries (which they totally messed up and I ended up getting a full refund), I got the Amazon Fire stick for my TV because I wanted to watch Prime videos without having to Airplay to my Apple TV (first world problems). Then, I got an Alexa Amazon Echo Spot (may contain affiliate link) and that baby is so cool. It reads my calendar appointments, to do lists, it even makes phone calls!, plays my music, my Audible books, it’s incredible. It even wakes me up in the morning. I’ve honestly missed having an alarm clock that’s not my phone. When I went to Amazon Bookstore and bought my book Girl Wash Your Face, it ended up being 40% off because I’m a Prime member! Crazy right? I think I’m signing up for a year because the savings are to die.

I recently got sugar free syrup and also ordered some sugar free, no carb syrups off Amazon and they should be perfect for my keto pancakes.

Life is just so good these days and I’m excited about these changes I’m implementing to be a better me. Happy August!
